Camp Angel

Guardian Angel Hospice Foundation and Angels for Kids are proud to sponsor Camp Angel on September 18-20, 2015 at Camp Tecumseh near Delphi, IN. Camp Angel provides a supportive environment for children ages 6 -16 to share their feelings of loss with other children and caring adults.

Through this interaction, campers learn that their feelings of grief and loss are normal. Children participate in sharing sessions, arts and crafts, campfire and songs, and recreational activities. Opportunities are provided to discuss life and death, feelings, memories, ways of saying goodbye, and tools for coping.

The experience at Camp Angel will:

  • Provide bereavement education to campers that will normalize the grief process as one of life’s universal experiences.
  • Decrease the sense of isolation that campers may feel while they are grieving.
  • Provide a framework for campers and teach coping skills to work through their grief.
  • Facilitate opportunities for campers to share and express their experiences and feelings.
  • Allow campers the opportunity to remember, honor and memorialize those who have died.
  • Create a sense of community among campers, volunteers and camp staff.

Camp Angel is paid for entirely by community donations and campers attend free of charge, including transportation to/from camp. Click here to download a copy of the Sponsorship Letter – it’s great to share with your friends and coworkers!

One of our biggest contributors is called Angels for Kids. Angels for Kids is a wonderful Indiana foundation that benefits children in need. They are a fantastic supporter of Camp Angel, and we will be posting additional information about them very soon.
