caringCaring for Caregivers

Guardian Angel Foundation recognizes the need for support for caregivers in our communities. Caregivers are identified as anyone who tends to the daily care and needs of any adult or child.

In November 2011 GAF held their first Caregivers Day at Ivy Tech in Logansport  and Rozzi’s Continental Ballroom in Kokomo. Local caregivers enjoyed a luncheon provided by Rozzi’s Catering and entertainment from Granpa Cratchet. The “Tools, Tips & Treats” program consisted of educational material given by speakers from Guardian Angel Hospice.

Don Ridenour from Always Best Care for Seniors discussed Alternative Living Arrangements. Juanita Thomas from Western & Southern Life discussed Planned Giving. Todd Patton from Lifestyle Energetics,LLC  demonstrated techniques to lessen stress. George Voltz, US Air Force retiree & Hospice Volunteer, discussed Safety/Surrounding Awareness. C&S Meat Market contributed gift certificates for a ham or turkey for our “Minute to Win It” game winners.

Other local vendors were available to discuss personal care, nutrition, ambulance care, home health care & hospice care.

Also given to all attendees were goody bags that included the book “In the Checklist of Life” by Lynn McPhelimy, made available by the Resource Center grant received from the Community Foundation of Howard County. The free event was made possible by a grant from Hospice Educational Institute and sponsors Guardian Angel Hospice and Sonny Care Home Health.
